- Three-phase rectifier transformer
Italian Tailor Made
Construction type: double core with two windings and on-load control of secondary voltage (two secondaries).
Using its consolidated technology and the experience it has accumulated in the construction of oil-filled three-phase rectifier transformers, TES designs, builds, tests, commissions and maintains transformers for rectifiers with power ratings of up to 100 MVA and primary voltages of up to 52 kV.
Today, there are numerous applications that require transformers to supply rectifiers with ever-increasing levels of power. The classic example is provided by those industries that use electrolysis processes for the production of aluminium, and the high secondary currents, together with the harmonic currents generated by the rectification systems, must be taken into account fully when designing transformers to power such loads.
Two types of rectifiers are available: thyristor rectifiers and diode rectifiers. In both cases, the transformers that power them must supply a gradually adjustable secondary voltage, which is normally produced via an on-load switch (OLTC). In cases in which the range of secondary voltages is high, the variation is produced through a regulation transformer, which can be located in a separate tank or in the same tank as the main transformer.
The construction of these transformers involves both the use of three-phase hubs with three or five columns (with free-phase secondary windings) and the use of two secondary windings (star/triangle), either magnetically coupled or magnetically uncoupled.
The experience that TES has built up has allowed to company to become a leading brand both nationally and internationally in the field of rectifier transformers. The company’s products are used across a wide spectrum of applications by a plethora of major clients.
