Using its consolidated technology and the experience it has accumulated in the construction of transformers for AC finishing furnaces (LFs), TES designs, builds, tests, commissions and maintains three-phase furnace transformers with power ratings of up to 60 MVA and primary voltages of up to 132 kV.
Transformers for LF furnaces is used throughout the steel industry and are often deployed in combination with electric-arc furnaces (EAFs). When designing these transformers, it is necessary to take into consideration the same factors that apply to the design of those that are used to power electric-arc furnaces: high levels of electrical, thermal and mechanical stress, high secondary current and on-load tap changing of the secondary voltages. As with EAFs, an additional option that is now often used in furnace transformers is the closure of the secondary electrical circuit (triangle) within the transformer cabinet.
The experience that TES has built up has allowed to company to become a leading brand both nationally and internationally in the LF furnace transformers market. The company’s products are used across a wide spectrum of applications by a plethora of major clients.
